Kupuna Support

Picture
The Kupuna Support Program at Mo`ili`ili Community Center assists Oahu’s frail and not-so-frail elders in staying active, instead of just staying home!

By interacting with others, playing concentration and memory games, working on coordination and dexterity, exercising physically, and expressing creativity, super seniors can maintain current levels of performance and independence – thus delaying the need for advanced care – all while having a great time!

If you live alone or are home alone during the day, this program is especially beneficial. It offers an opportunity to immerse yourself in a stimulating environment that exercises the mind, body, and soul.

If you are brand-new to the program, your first day is on us! Call ahead to reserve your one-day Free Pass.

As a participant, you’ll enjoy:

  • A wide range of age- and ability-appropriate activities, including games with prizes, arts and crafts, exercise, excursions, singing and musical entertainment, and socializing with others of a similar background
  • A healthy lunch and snack
  • Roundtrip transportation (depending on area of residence and scheduling)
  • Our monthly “Holoholo!” bulletin (click to view the current issue)

To participate, you must be:
  • Age 62 or older
  • Frail to some extent
  • Able to walk with some assistance (a cane or walker is fine)
  • Able to eat and go to the restroom with some assistance
  • Non-aggressive and not prone to wandering (symptoms of dementia or Alzheimer’s are fine)
  • Not currently attending a daycare or day-health program
  • Cleared for participation by a doctor and have a current TB clearance
