imageSeniors 60 years and older who reside within the areas from Ward Avenue to Hawaii Kai are welcome to join.

Participants gather to socialize, to learn, to obtain services, and to stay active by being involved in Center or Community activities throughout the year. Recreation, health, and educational activities include excursions, hikes, seminars, classes, and special events. Services provided include information and referral, telephone reassurance, escort, and transportation. The Lanakila Meals on Wheels Program is also located at the Center; seniors partake of a hot lunch as well as join in a number of fun and wellness activities.

This program is subsidized by the State through the Executive Office of Aging and the City & County of Honolulu Elderly Affairs Division.

Aloha & Mahalo to Jill Kitamura, MSC Program Director

Moiliili Community Center is both happy and sad to announce that Mrs. Jill Kitamura is officially retiring from her position as the program director for the Moiliili Senior Center (MSC) program on June 30, 2014. Jill started her career as the program supervisor for MSC on February 1, 1980. She had worked at this position for a little over nine years before taking on the program coordinator position. It was about five years later, when in August 1995 she became program director. Since then, she has been the heart of the program. She has been responsible for the program's successful continuation, seeking grants, fundraising, and promoting awareness - all to keep our kupuna young and healthy! Her thoughtful and caring style of leadership has helped the program become more of a big, happy family than anything else. We will be holding an "Aloha & Mahalo" retirement party for her at the Center in room 209 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, June 27. Please join us for light refreshments as we wish her a fond farewell of 34-plus years of hard work. To our dearest Jill, we wish you all the best and we hope you enjoy a happy, healthy, well-deserved vacation!

NOTE: If you would like to make a donation for this event, please contact the program coordinator Paula Regidor in the MSC office, room 203.
